Welcome to North Dakota

Things to do before or after Fargo:

If you want to see more of North Dakota, consider flying in or out of Bismarck or Dickinson and heading to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the western half of North Dakota.  Enjoy the vacation town of Medora.  Go golfing at Bully Pulpit.  Bike or hike on the Maah Daah Hey Trail.  Medora is a 4 hour and 41 minute drive to the conference.

Also in North Dakota (and Canada – bring your passport), you can drive 4 hours from the conference and go to the International Peace Garden.  You can go fishing in Devils Lake on the way up or the way back.

For those who want to explore South Dakota, Watertown, SD is a 2 hour drive from Fargo and has a very nice (free) museum of Terry Redlin art.  Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, and the Black Hills of South Dakota are an 8 hour drive from the conference.

For those who have never been to Canada, pack your passport and drive 3.5 hours north to Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Either on the way up or on the way back, hit the Pembina Gorge state recreation area.

If you want to explore MN, there is a very popular country music festival that will be happening August 1 through August 3, 2024 (right before the conference).  And I think MN has a couple lakes or something like that. It is a 3.5 hour drive to the conference from the Minneapolis airport and the Mall of America.

With all of the above, you should have enough to add some vacation days to your trip.  And I didn’t even mention any of these:
