Welcome to the Capital – Saratoga Region of New York State
Saratoga Springs, NY located approximately 180 miles north of New York City, 30 miles north of Albany (the State Capital), and 2 hours from Lake Placid (home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics). Saratoga Springs, is situated in the Hudson River valley and is characterized by its proximity to the State Capitol, Lake George Region and Adirondack Park.
Saratoga County is home to Saratoga National Historic Park, which commemorates the Battles of Saratoga that took place in 1777. The area gained prominence in the 1700s when European settlers began to appreciate the natural mineral springs, which were believed to have healing properties. The establishment of the Saratoga Race Course in 1863 solidified its status as a premier destination for horse racing, drawing tourists and high-profile visitors. Over the years, Saratoga Springs has evolved into a cultural hub with a vibrant arts scene, historic architecture, and a continued emphasis on wellness and recreation, maintaining its charm as a historic resort town.
